About
Get a sneak preview of our new exhibition, 'Discover Degas and Miss La La', in this exclusive Members’ talk.
In ‘Miss La La at the Cirque Fernando’, Degas created one of his most striking works. The circus artist Miss La La, or Anna Albertine Olga Brown (1858‒1945), hangs from a rope suspended from the ceiling. She holds nothing more than a leather mouthpiece with her teeth. We look up at her against the domed circus roof.
This exhibition brings Miss La La, in life and art, into focus. Get an early glimpse of the exciting new information discovered about Miss La La and this extraordinary painting. Curator Anne Robbins will share never-before seen photographs of Miss La La, drawings of her by Degas, and other rare materials a this special pre-exhibition talk.
There will be a live Q&A at the end of this event.
