Be part of the National Gallery where every painting tells a story
Ensure the Great Masters continue to inspire, challenge and thrill
The magic of the National Gallery’s great master paintings captivates visitors from all over the world. Legends like Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Rembrandt and Van Gogh inspire us with their vision, talent and the exquisite beauty of their work.
When you come behind the scenes at the National Gallery, you find teams of experts who work to care for, study and preserve the beautiful and often fragile paintings. It is a fascinating and complex world of expert conservationists, scientists, security specialists, curators and art handlers who all use state of the art equipment.
We have a large programme of activities ensuring the paintings inspire, challenge and thrill our visitors. Through our education and outreach work over 80,000 school children and adults are able to experience the collection, many of them for the first time.
Looking after and preserving these paintings and running the varied programmes around them is expensive. This is where we need your help.
We invite you to become a central part of the National Gallery:
Help us to preserve and care for this unique collection of Western European paintings, which is free to visit and the envy of the world.
