FAQs
1. Does the National Gallery have a Friends Scheme?
The National Gallery does not currently have a Friends Scheme. However, we like to think that all members of the public feel part of The National Gallery.
There is no charge to come here and our current programme of events and lectures is extensive. These events are either free, or they are charged at a nominal cost.
To find out what is on at the Gallery please visit the What’s On section of our website or subscribe to our e-newsletter to receive information on all the Gallery's activities and events. You can also express interest for joining any future Friends Scheme by filling in the form below.

2. How can I hold an event at the Gallery?
The National Gallery holds a range of dinners, private viewings and cocktail parties for our corporate members and sponsors. These events are elegant and a beautiful way to experience the Gallery. Please contact Holly Vale on 020 7747 5873 or email development@ng-london.org.uk to find out more.
3. What will my Donation be used for?
All donations, large or small, make a real difference to the Gallery. You will help us to preserve and care for these exquisite paintings. Importantly, you will also keep the collection free so anyone can come and visit us and delight in these masterpieces. We rely on the support from patrons to run our broad range of activities including our vibrant education and outreach work, mounting major exhibitions, purchasing paintings and frames for the collection.
4. What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a Government scheme which allows us to reclaim tax on gifts from UK taxpayers. This increases the value of your gift by almost a third, at no extra cost to you.

5. Facts and Figures
Because The National Gallery is governed by the Museums and Galleries Act 1992, we do not need a charity number. Under this Act, we have charitable status but we are not required to register with the Charity Commission.
