Touring Exhibitions Partnership

National Gallery Touring Exhibitions in partnership with Bristol's City Museum and Art Gallery and the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The National Gallery has set up an exhibitions partnership scheme with Bristol's City Museum and Art Gallery and the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle. The aim is to create a series of shared, annual exhibitions, which are chosen and planned jointly by staff from the three galleries. The majority of the works in the exhibitions come from the National Gallery, giving the public in the west and north of England immediate access to masterpieces from the nation's prime collection of Old Master paintings. Important loans are also included from Bristol and Newcastle as well as other collections throughout Britain.

Bristol and Newcastle are ideal partners for the Gallery in this venture. Each has a strong record of mounting innovative exhibitions and extending their activities through new outreach programmes to all areas of their communities.

The partnership scheme continues into 2008 with the next exhibition, Love, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Northern Rock Foundation and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
