The PGCE students discussed with their year 10 art and design GCSE groups how Beuckelaer used an abundance of fruit and vegetables to symbolise Earth in his series of paintings based on 'The Four Elements'.

Photographs where taken by the GCSE students and sketches were made to explore their natural environment. These were then used to develop their own ideas on the theme of Earth.

This included using natural materials such as sand and clay. Some GCSE students concentrated on creating their own symbolic messages in their work.
