Finding aids exist for most of the material in the archive and can be consulted in hard copy form in the Library reading room. Archive staff can provide researchers with some copies of finding aids by post or email.
Parts of the archive catalogues are also available via the National Archives' website. The catalogues can be browsed or they can be searched by entering 'NG' in the 'Department or Series code' field to ensure that only National Gallery archives are retrieved, followed by your search terms in the 'Word or phrase' field.
