The National Gallery works with award winning authors, poets, scriptwriters and journalists to develop literacy work with secondary schools. Using National Gallery paintings as inspiration, authors run masterclasses for schools in the London boroughs of Hackney, Islington and Brent.
Participating authors include Jacqueline Wilson, Beverley Naidoo and the poet John Hegley. Videos of the classes and examples of the pupils' work are available online.
