Edward the Confessor (about 1003 - 1066) was the last of the Anglo-Saxon kings. He was known for his sanctity and was canonised in 1161. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
He appears in the 'Wilton Diptych' in the Collection as one of the saints presenting Richard II to the Virgin and Child.
