The Scientific Department of the National Gallery is hosting a three-day conference to mark the publication of the 30th volume of the National Gallery Technical Bulletin.

The central theme of the conference will be all subjects relating to the technical study of Old Master paintings and the history and technology of painting materials and techniques, research topics which have been the focus of the Technical Bulletin over the last 30 years.

The most recent international meeting devoted to this subject was the IIC Congress in Dublin in 1998, 10 years ago. Considerable developments have taken place in this field since then, and this conference aims to examine the advances that have been made and enable new work to be disseminated and discussed.

The overall programme of papers should prove of interest to conservators, curators and art-historians, and to scientists working in the heritage and museum fields.

The language of the conference is English.
