National Gallery Curatorial Traineeship Programme 2017–19, supported by Art Fund with the assistance of the Vivmar Foundation
Eleanor Hutchison
Eleanor Hutchison and Kate O’Donoghue have joined the 2017–19 National Gallery Curatorial Traineeship Programme which is supported by Art Fund with the assistance of the Vivmar Foundation. Eleanor and Kate will undertake six months of on-the-job training at the National Gallery, followed by regional postings at Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park, Warwickshire and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, respectively.
Launched in 2011, the Curatorial Traineeship Programme was established jointly by the National Gallery and Art Fund to address the need for object and collections-based expertise and to nurture the next generation of curators.
Eleanor Hutchison studied History of Art at the University of York, followed by an MA in Medieval Art History. She has previously been a volunteer with the National Trust and York Art Gallery.
At Compton Verney Eleanor will assist with research, planning, and implementation of a redisplay and reinterpretation of the Northern European collection. She will also be involved in a new exhibition on Cranach.
Kate O'Donoghue
Kate O’Donoghue studied English and Art History at University College Dublin and completed an MSc in History of Art, Theory and Display at the University of Edinburgh. She has previous experience with the National Gallery of Ireland, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and the National Galleries of Scotland.
At the Walker Art Gallery Kate will contribute to the future redisplay and reinterpretation of the Baroque gallery. She will also be involved in the creation and promotion of permant collection displays and help make the works accessible to a wide audience.
