Dancing Museums is a partnership project that aims to enhance visitors' journeys through museum spaces and explore how live performance can aid understanding and engagement in visual art.
Between June 2015 and March 2017, five dance artists, representing each dance organisation, embarked upon a two-year period of research and development and took part in a week-long residency in each of the museums.
Dancing Museums residency in London
The London residency of Dancing Museums took place at the National Gallery in partnership with Siobhan Davies Dance from Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 November 2016. It was led by UK dance artist Lucy Suggate, with collaborating EU dance artists, curators, education professionals and scientists.
During the residency choreographers contributed to elements of the Gallery’s education programme, a series of talks were held at the Gallery and Siobhan Davies Dance, and choreographers tested their ideas in the Gallery.
