Dark Readings Group screening and discussion
About
To coincide with her current installation and new book ‘The Touch Report’, our 2024 Artist in Residence Katrina Palmer returns to the Gallery to screen a short film made during her time spent here, followed by a discussion with some of its participants. The film features the Dark Readings Group, which Palmer assembled to explore darkness and alternative sensory forms of knowing. Produced at the Gallery, the film questions the perceived power of historical paintings.
This evening Palmer introduces her film while fellow artists, writers and members of the group discuss the relationship of darkness to their own practices. Speakers include David Burrows, Sabrina Hasan, Emma McNally and Adrian Rifkin. The evening concludes with a musical performance by poet-artist dove / Christine Kirubi.
