Thank you to Beatport for providing the DJ equipment and Sofia Ilyas, Chief Community Officer at Beatport, who presents these two artists, each showcasing the diverse music spectrum, to get you in the Friday night mood.

A trailblazing musical polymath, NikNak has carved a niche for herself in the music industry with her distinctive turntablism, immersive compositions, and captivating improvised performances. Heralded by the likes of DJ Mag, Clash, The Wire and Resident Advisor, her debut album 'Bashi' garnered critical acclaim, positioning her as one to watch in the experimental electronic music scene. Her fourth studio album 'Ireti' was released on Matthew Herbert's label Accidental Records in 2024 and has been named one of the year's best albums by Mixmag and Bandcamp.

Gayance, born Aïsha Vertus, derives her name from the Haitian Creole word for happiness. With over ten years of experience, she captivates audiences worldwide at venues like the Dekmantel Festival and Boiler Room. Her dynamic performances blend Afro-Latin jazz, Caribbean rhythms, West African sounds, electronic music, and Hip Hop, highlighting her electrifying energy and live vocals. In 2023, she was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize for her debut album, 'Mascarade', released on Rhythm Section. Fans eagerly anticipate her next project, on Tru Thoughts and BBE x LOVE INJECTION, set for release in 2025. Gayance continues to shine as a performer, composer and educator in the music scene.

Places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. The Roden Centre for Creative Learning can be accessed via Room 18 from the main galleries or via a dedicated entrance on Orange Street.
