About

The water-lilies of Claude Monet's garden in Giverny inspired some 250 paintings. At this online Members' event, we focus on one, 'The Water-Lily Pond'.

Ross King, author of 'Monet: The Water-Lily Pond'  considers the profound impact of Japanese art on Monet’s working practice, the historical events of the time, the artist’s fascination with painting bridges, and the personal tragedy that led to his desire to capture and immortalise on canvas a succession of ever-changing moments in his garden.

In this online Members' event, Ross introduces his new publication before opening the floor for Q&A.

Copies of 'Monet: The Water-Lily Pond' are available in our National Gallery gift shops.
