The Madonna and Child with Saints
About
Lecturer Caroline Miller and artist educator Joanna Conybeare explore Parmigianino's 'The Madonna and Child with Saints', currently featured in our exhibition 'Parmigianino: The Vision of Saint Jerome'.
First, listen to a brief talk, then respond by making your own work in this short, artist-led drawing session. Please have to hand a sharp pencil, paper and a rubber.
The session will take place online and will last about one hour.
Sometimes we might suggest using different drawing or craft materials, so, if you are able to, please keep a pencil case of different colours, a ruler and a pair of scissors nearby, as well as anything else you might like to experiment with.
This session will be accompanied by live speech-to-text transcription supported by Stagetext.
Speakers
Caroline Miller is the Courses and Events Programmer at the National Gallery. Caroline has previously worked in roles in the education and curatorial departments at the Royal Academy of Arts, Harvard University’s Dumbarton Oaks Museum, Glenstone Museum, Opera di Santa Croce, and the Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. She received her MA in the History of Art from the University of Oxford, and her BA in Visual Studies and Art History from the University of Pennsylvania.
Joanna Conybeare is an artist and Gallery Educator who has worked in Primary and Secondary schools in London and the south coast as a teacher and subject lead for Art and Design. In her own artistic practice, she uses clay, porcelain and terracotta to explore the figure, enjoying the immediacy of the material that enables her to ‘draw’ three-dimensionally.
