About

Join us for this early access glimpse of ‘Hockney and Piero: A Longer Look’. Discover our role in nurturing artistic inspiration, focusing on David Hockney and his love of Piero della Francesca

The paintings hanging on our walls have inspired David Hockney throughout his 70-year career. Take a longer look at Piero della Francesca’s ‘The Baptism of Christ’ which features in Hockney’s ‘My Parents’ and ‘Looking at Pictures on a Screen’.

Enjoy these three paintings hanging alongside each other for the first time and discover stories behind Hockney’s love of the Gallery, his connections with its collection and his artistic responses to Piero. See our collection in fresh ways through the eyes of this celebrated artist and discover how he looks at pictures to get the most out of them.

Exhibition Curator Susanna Avery-Quash will share the magic of this intimate exhibition ahead of our Members’ preview day, with an opportunity to ask questions at the end of this event.
