Join us for a talk with a German theme to celebrate the special edition of 'The German Paintings before 1800', by Susan Foister. Delve into the life and times of German Renaissance artist Hans Holbein the Younger, one of the most celebrated portraitists of the 16th century.
This talk will occur three times throughout the course of the day. Two talks will be hosted in English and one hosted entirely in German. The German-speaking talk is suitable for those with an intermediate and above level of the language.
This talk will be hosted in English and German. Please see specific tour times according to language below:
English-speaking tour: 10.30am and 2.30pm
German-speaking tour: 12.30pm

Martin Brown is an award-winning Blue Badge Guide, experienced in guiding at the National Gallery, Tate Britain and Tate Modern. Currently he is studying with Birkbeck College for a Post Graduate Certificate in Art History. Before retraining as a Blue Badge Guide, Martin worked for 30 years in education. Firstly, as a teacher of French & German in London secondary schools, and for the last 10 years as Head Teacher of a large Secondary School.
