Join us for a tour of the collection with a German theme to celebrate the special edition of 'The German Paintings before 1800', by Susan Foister. Delve into the stories of German Renaissance artists, such as Hans Holbein the Younger, Albrecht Dürer, and Lucas Cranach the Elder.
This tour will occur three times throughout the course of the day. Two tours will be hosted in English and one hosted entirely in German. The German-speaking tour is suitable for those with an intermediate and above level of the language.
This tour will explore the Gallery using headsets and be hosted in English and German. Please see specific tour times according to language below:
English-speaking tour: 10.30am and 2.30pm
German-speaking tour: 12.30pm
Your host
Martin Brown is an award-winning Blue Badge Guide, experienced in guiding at the National Gallery, Tate Britain and Tate Modern. Currently he is studying with Birkbeck College for a Post Graduate Certificate in Art History. Before retraining as a Blue Badge Guide, Martin worked for 30 years in education. Firstly, as a teacher of French & German in London secondary schools, and for the last 10 years as Head Teacher of a large Secondary School.
