Hear tales of love and betrayal—with epic consequences—at this online Members’ event.
Adwoa Botchey and Solomon Adebiyi, the artists and creatives behind Adeche Atelier, lead this evening of storytelling. They will explore myths from Europe and Africa and how the threads of passion, love, jealousy and sacrifice are woven across cultures and continents.
Focusing on the Wagadu empire and the Yoruba of West Africa, Adwoa and Solomon will share two myths and how they parallel Greek and Roman stories. You will hear about Bacchus and Ariadne, Sia and Maadi, and other mythic figures. Discover the beautiful and tragic paintings depicting the Greek and Roman myths in our collection, from Titian and other artists, and learn how Adwoa and Solomon are creating new visions of African myths through their stories and art.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of this event.
Speakers
Adwoa Botchey and Solomon Adebiyi, the creative couple behind Adeche Atelier, are artists, storytellers, and content creators inspired by African mythology, folklore, and culture. By sharing these stories through their art - uniquely painted simultaneously on the same canvas - they hope to encourage others to delve deeper into African mythology. As storytellers, they strive to keep these tales alive for future generations.
