Surprised by a tiger

Childhood memories of sitting cross-legged in front of Rousseau's tiger.

I have been coming to the Gallery all my life and I feel like the paintings circle back to me across different times. I remember sitting cross-legged on the floor on a school trip looking at the tiger in a tropical storm in Surprised! by Rousseau.

Recently, I came to the Gallery with my three-year-old daughter and pointed out the lightning and the tiger's expression just as the guide had to me 30 years ago.
