Correspondence between Kenneth Clark and S.C. Kaines Smith, Keeper of the Cook Collection and R.P. Slade of Messrs Lovell, White and King, solicitors to the Cook Trustees re arranging to meet to discuss pictures in the Cook Collection in which the Gallery is interested including the Rubens 'Portrait of a Man', the Domenichino and Millet landscapes, the Saint from the Aixe 'Annunciation' and the Sodoma 'St George and the Dragon' and re the Gallery's offer for the purchase of the Benozzo Gozzoli 'Madonna and Child with Angels'.
Also includes an undated photocopy of a letter from Clark to D. Jackling, Trustee of the Cook Collection re possibility of a benefactor of the Gallery purchasing the Gozzoli and the Rembrandt 'Titus' from the Cook Collection, 19 Dec 1939 [original letter in S327]
