Correspondence with Messrs Coward, Chance and Co, solicitors to the executors of the late Sir Edward David Stern re the latter's bequest of pictures to the NG in 1933 subject to his wife's life interest and re insurance of the pictures whilst in Lady Stern's possession; also correspondence with the solicitors and Lady Stern re her decision to release the Reynolds and the van der Helst pictures to the NG in 1946, including a signed copy of her Deed of Release of 26 Mar 1946, the cleaning and repair of certain works and transfer of the remaining five works in the bequest to the Tate following Lady Stern's death in 1979. Also correspondence with the National Maritime Museum and National Portrait Gallery re loans of certain works in the bequest, 1979
