Letters to and from K. Clark and Sir R. Shafto Adair, 1936, re the Masolino panels in the latter's possession; correspondence and papers, 1949-1951, re the Gallery's growing interest in the pictures which had passed into the possession of Major General Sir Allan Adair following the death of Sir R.S. Adair, their inspection by Martin Davies and negotations for their purchase. Includes correspondence with Alec Martin of Christie's, Kenneth Clark and amongst the Trustees including Lord Crawford, A. Gow and Sir Alan Barlow re negotiations. Also includes Davies and Maclaren's notes and reports on the pictures and their physical condition.
