Description
Correspondence with W.H. Walker, accountants, regarding the potential price to be paid for the pictures selected by the National Gallery. Walker suggests £30,000 for the two Poussin landscapes. A letter to W. Gilmour of Walker accountants on 8 April 1970 confirms that the Trustees are willing to pay £37,000 for the Vuillard, £80,118 for the Caravaggio and £28,613 for the two Poussins. Copies of Denis Mahon's report concerning the pictures that are to be acquired. Mahon's report makes special reference to the Caravaggio and the debate over the attribution of this picture, Levey has stated that he does not agree with the attribution.
