Photograph of a watercolour by Frederick MacKenzie. 18 1/4 x 24 1/2 (47 x 62.5 cm). Original: The Victoria and Albert Museum inv. 40-1887. Exhibited: Old Watercolour Society, 1834, no. 334. Literature: 'The Art Journal', 1910 p 292; 'Victoria and Albert Museum Catalogue of Watercolour Paintings by British Artists' 1927 p. 340-341. This and the adjoining room were built for Frederick, Prince of Wales (1707-1751), father of George III, with an entrance from Carlton House. No. 100 Pall Mall was situated at the corner of Carlton House Avenue. The houses 100-105 were the property of the Crown. In 1841 the Reform Club acquired a lease of all the land occupied by these six houses; the present club by Sir Charles Barry RA was erected on their sites. Copy photograph: National Gallery. Neg.
