Original photograph in the Mansell Collection (? no. 13.844). Showing the equestrian statue of George IV and Nelson's Column both erected in 1843, but not the lions at the foot of Nelson's Column which were put in position in 1867. A Peeler (policeman) stands near a lamp-post. Plus a photograph of detail of the original railings in front of the National Gallery, the lamp by the entrance steps, and chimneys on the skyline.
