Description
Advising that Eastlake's suggestion of the plain clothes detectives being placed in uniform, conveyed in his letter of 17 November 1886, was made to save costs and because the Trustees and Director believe there will be insufficient numbers of uniformed police on duty when the new rooms are open to the public. Also requesting that these posts are made permanent and be added to the Gallery's vote for 1887-88
