One indexed bound volume containing copies of the National Gallery's outgoing correspondence. All letters are written by Charles Locke Eastlake, Keeper and Secretary of the National Gallery unless otherwise stated. The correspondence covers a variety of subjects including applications to study in the Gallery, offers of pictures for the collection, the cleaning and repair of pictures, the finances of the Gallery, staffing issues, students and copyists at the Gallery, and the policing of the building and its surroundings.
An alphabetical index of recipients' names is provided at the front of the volume
