Description
As far as the present staff at the Gallery can remember (some staff having worked at the Gallery for 25 years) there has never been an instance of a pension or gratuity being given to an assistant housemaid on retirement. Those housemaids who have grown infirm have generally died in service. If the housemaid in question is to have a gratuity it would be best for her to receive it as soon as possible, as she has been away from work due to illness for the last two months and therefore her salary can not be paid.
