Description
Informing them that following communication from the principal librarian of the British Museum, the Director has inspected some pictures belonging to the Museum now at the National Portrait Gallery but which are not considered suitable for that institution, and has observed some which would probably be eligible for the National Gallery:A Hunting Scene by Jean Baptiste W[?]; A Portrait of Anna Maria [Van] Schurman by Jan Lievens, A Portrait attributed to Sir Antonio Moro, A Small Landscape attributed to R. Wilson. Asks whether the Trustees of the British Museum would be willing to give their sanction for the transfer of these paintings form the National Portrait Gallery to this Department.
