Description
Informing them that as the Secretary, and accounting officer, is away on annual
leave, I [F. W. Burton] forwarded an order to the Paymaster General to pay the
Earl of Suffolk £9,000 for a picture purchased by the Trustees, but has learned
that the Paymaster General cannot act on orders not signed by the accounting
officer and countersigned by me [Burton], and asking if their Lordships would
authorise the Paymaster General to honour the order which can be signed by Mr
Eastlake on his return.
