Description
The letter concerned a medical certificate that was submitted for an employee Henry Canning, an assistant porter who was absent from duty during the previous year for a period amounting to three months for which he was given his full salary. It goes on to detail consequences of his absence on other employees as he continued to be absent at various intervals and a request for advice concerning the continuation of paying Henry Canning's salary and acquiring labour to compensate for his absence were made.
