Description
Typed letter from William Gibson, Keeper of the National Gallery, to Frank Sachs referring to a list of German artworks in English art institutions that Sachs had given to the Royal Academy and which had been passed on to Gibson. Gibson is enquiring as to the purpose for which the list was drawn up and asks Sachs to provide more information about it. Handwritten note by Gibson at the bottom of the letter says that 'Mr Sachs in interview stated that lists found in gestapo headquarters Prague.' Handwritten note at the top of the letter says, 'German works of art in England claimed to be for removal to Germany if Germany had won the war.'
