Correspondence between Van Akin Burd and Geoffrey Agnew

Two letters pinned together; the first was written by Professor Van Akin Burd (State University of New York) to Geoffrey Agnew on 4 Apr 1958. He requests information related to John Ruskin's association with the Agnew family, and the history of the firm. Geoffrey Agnew's response (13 May 1958) provides as much information as can be dervived from the firm's records concerning this connection. He states that a Miss Joanna Agnew was a cousin and adopted daughter of Ruskin's, and that it is likely that Ruskin may have required the firm to varnish a photograph, as discussed in Burd's original letter.
