Description
Letter (23 Apr 1930) from John [Dunn-Yarker] to Hugh Ladas Agnew, written from 125 East 57th Street, New York, regarding potential sales of works by Tintoretto, Titian and Hondecoeter to the William Rockhill Nelson Trust via Harold Parsons. [Dunn-Yarker] relates that he has had a discussion with Parsons who has stated that " the Trustees did not see why they were obliged to buy the Titian through us when they could get it direct from Sabin" for a lower price, which [Dunn-Yarker] disputes. [Dunn-Yarker] copies a (coded) cable he has sent to Agnew regarding the potential price of the works.
[Dunn-Yarker] includes a post-script on receipt of a reply to his cable from Agnew, the contents of which he has relayed to Parsons. He states that he has dined with Mrs Cornelius Vanderbilt, viewed her collection of Turners and hopes he might persuade her to lend some of them for exhibition.
