Description
Notes on Spanish Romanesque, Gothic, and Medieval painting, mostly taken from books, many on very small scraps of paper. Includes typed notes labelled 'Sanchez Canton, Archivo' and a letter from Francisco J Sanchez Canton (Sub-Director of the Prado, Madrid), 1931, regarding a collection of Flemish paintings once belonging to Queen Isabella of Castile which includeds Juan de Flandes 'Christ Appearing to the Virgin' [NG1280]. The file also contains two letters from Birmingham City Art Gallery [1928] re the attribution of their 'Sicilian School Madonna and Child, and articles on Spanish art from art journals.
