About the artist

Jesse Jones is a Dublin-based artist. Using a form of expanded cinema she explores magical counter-narratives drawn from suppressed archetypes and narrative alterity through immersive film installation. Jones’ practice is multi-platform, working in film, performance and sculpture through speculative feminisms and Myth. She represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale 2017 and has had solo shows at Mimosa House, London, Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh, and the Guggenheim, Bilbao. Jones is currently exhibiting a new body of work at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, entitled ‘Mirror Martyr Mirror Moon’, a 16mm film installation made in response to Artemisia Gentileschi’s masterpiece ‘Self-portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria’ (1616), as part of our National Treasures tour.
