Free festival of art

1 August - 1 September 2024

Summer on the Square and Take One Picture

Trafalgar Square

11am–1pm and 2–4pm, daily

This summer, we're hosting a free festival of art, made by children for children.

Admire artworks created by children across the country in this year's Take One Picture exhibition. Then, get creative with Summer on the Square, creating your own piece of art to take home.

Summer on the Square

We're hosting Summer on the Square in partnership with Westminster City Council – a programme of free, daily creative sessions and activities to inspire you to create your own masterpieces. Join us to create, collaborate and celebrate, work together as a family, perhaps with other families too, and see what you can make.

Celebrate being outside in Trafalgar Square and being part of the Westminster community!

All activities are open to everyone. All studio sessions are drop-in and open to all ages and abilities. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis – you may be asked to wait during busy times.

Take One Picture

As part of our annual Take One Picture programme, primary schools from across the UK have responded creatively to 'Surprised!' by Henri Rousseau.

Find out more about their creative responses in our online exhibition, or head to Trafalgar Square to see a selection of artworks for yourself.

Take One Picture is generously supported by Columbia Threadneedle Foundation
