John Stack

Director of Digital, Innovation and Technology

John was previously Digital Director of the Science Museum Group, a position he took up in 2015, where he was responsible for setting and delivering the Group's digital strategy. Prior to joining the Science Museum Group, John was Head of Digital at Tate for ten years and before that he was an editor at the art, design and architecture publisher, Phaidon Press.

In 2020-21, John was principal investigator of the AHRC-funded Heritage Connector project that explored the use of artificial intelligence to build connections at scale between, within and beyond museum collections.

His work has won numerous awards including four Webby Awards, five Lovie Awards, and six Museums and the Web / GLAMi awards. John is a Trustee of Art UK the online art repository of public collections.

In his two decades of experience, John has worked on projects across every aspect of digital in the cultural sector, including website redesigns, online collections, immersive experiences, research publications, virtual and augmented reality, audioguides, interactive exhibits, mobile apps, games, social media, filmmaking, e-commerce, ticketing and more.
