Jacob Salomonsz. was born in Haarlem, the son of Salomon van Ruysdael and cousin of the most important painter of this family,Jacob van Ruisdael. He worked first in Haarlem, but by 1666 he was in Amsterdam. He died insane in Haarlem. He was a landscape painter.
