Subleyras was born in St-Gilles-du-Gard. He was a pupil of his father and later of Antoine Rivalz in Toulouse. In 1726 he studied at the Academy in Paris. He won the Premier Prix in 1727 and in 1728 went to Rome, where he settled and died. He is known chiefly for his altarpieces and portraits.
